Math Practice

Math tends to be a subject that many kids do not like. It can be viewed as uninteresting or hard to understand. Fortunately, There are countless opportunities to teach math in various ways. I have found worksheets that are color by number with math equations, videos that demonstrate how to do a math equation, and websites that build upon what has been learned. Each option is a good resource for students. Making math more interesting is one way in which it can provide more understanding or interest for students. I have found that videos worked best for me. However, I have seen students enjoy color by number. These materials are relatively easy to access. For example, many color-by-numbers on Pinterest can be as simple as 1+1 or as complex as 25x3. I have attached some examples at the bottom.

Several great websites can be used. A great website that can help with math is Khan Academy. Khan Academy has different grade levels that will meet your student's needs. I have attached the website for you to visit. javascript:nicTemp(); Another Website is PBS Learning Media. PBS Learning Media goes from kindergarten to 8th grade.javascript:nicTemp(); I have connected that as well. For those needing help with stats or engineering, I recommend watching the crash course videos on Youtube. javascript:nicTemp();

For those who struggle with word problems, I have found that utilizing a highlighter has been a lifesaver. Highlighters allow you to make important information stand out. I tended to use yellow since it stood out the most, but you can use whatever color you want. I also found that you can use different colors for different types of information. The most important can be one color, and the less critical information can be another. Whatever method you use is what works for you.
