Fun Facts

In my academic career, I have gotten some very cool, unexpected rewards. One academic speech allowed me to attend San Diego's international Comic Con and meet Matt Groening, the creator of the Simpsons. My research is on fairy tale adaptations and how they change to reflect the concurrent society, so I spend a lot of time reading fantasy and watching cartoons.

About Me

I am currently a PhD student, working on my doctorate in English Lit. I have Master's degrees in both English Literature and Teacher Education. I have given speeches at literature conferences in several states and have published articles in literary journals.

I have taught/tutored every type of student. This includes all ages from pre-k to adult students. I have tutored every topic and every skill level from GATE students to autistic students.

I believe each student is different. This is absolutely paramount to understanding the learning style of that student. No two kids are the same and no two kids learn in the same way. It is therefore my intent to first discuss the student with his or her parents and to engage with the student him or herself. This allows me to build a rapport which will in turn ensure that the student feels comfortable with me and understands my intention to help them overcome their learning discrepancies and to excel.
