Fun Facts

I am definitely the type of person that does not like to sit around all day. I'm extremely active and I love being outdoors. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my dose of video games. However, I also love camping, hiking, and cycling. Recently I have been trying to take up guitar as well. One of my biggest muses is music, specifically Rock n' Roll.

About Me

I am an Aerospace Engineering student at San Jose State University planning to graduate in spring of 2015. Currently I am a support officer for the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) at San Jose State University. My dream is to become a project manager for space systems developed at the NASA Ames Research Center. I am also an Eagle Scout.

Although I do not have any official tutoring experience, I do have a little brother that I teach. If my brother needs help with a homework question I do my best to sit down and help him work it out. If I have learned anything from tutoring my brother it's that I need to be patient with him.

I'm going to take a page out of the Boy Scout hand book to answer this question. The back bone of my teaching method is something called the Teaching EDGE. EDGE stands for Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, and Enable. First, I explain to give the student an idea of what to do. Then I demonstrate to give the student an example. After, I guide the student so they can come to an answer easily. Lastly, I enable the student allowing them to do a problem one their own. The Teaching EDGE is the outline I follow, but I feel it is just as important to keep the experience fun. Like with my brother, I think it is important to be patient and encouraging, never knocking a student down.
