I love all Latino culture and have performed traditional Folklorico and Tango dancing in High School. Additionally, I love art and consider myself to be an artist that appreciates beauty especially in language and culture.

About Me

My major it "The Teaching of Spanish" and I'm also in the process of getting certified to teach English as a Second Language. My general GPA is a 3.5, and for Spanish it is a 3.7. After college I plan to apply to the FullBrite Scholarsihp program and teach English in a Spanish Speaking country in Latin America. After, I plan to begin teaching Spanish in a High School enviroment and possibly get involved in a Latino Student Organization or Spanish Club within the school. I also am a President's Award Scholarship student.

This past year I have worked in the Residence Halls at UIC chicago">tutoring Spanish and basic business classes. I worked once a week with students as a personal contact to help ensure their success.I helped out with memorizing the different verb tenses and vocabulary, Spanish Composition, and the comprehension and production of the language. I am well aquantied with various forms of study aides and recommended that students use them, and showed them how to use them. Additionally, I planned educational programs for students to attend to learn more about different cultures and customs, in addition to the best strategies to do well in a college academic environment.

When chicago">tutoring a student I begin with introducing myself and the student. Then I ask them how they are feeling with their current course of study. This is important to understand before going straight into the topic, because if the student is struggling with basics of the class or language I will begin from that point, not necessarily where their assignment begins. I want the student to feel confident in what he or she knows so he or she can build off of their knowledge. Then I ask them what their currently studying, or what topic they are learning about. I ask them to either show me notes from the class or explain to me how the teacher explained the topic to them. After their explanation, I then ask what parts of the topic were most confusing and why and help the student as needed from there
