Fun Facts

My hobbies include writing, reading, running, practicing yoga, and traveling. I love animals and nature in general. My favorite job so far was being a mentor and teacher to freshman college students.

About Me

I attend DePaul University. I am a Junior, and I am working on a double major in English and Communications. I have a 3.8 GPA. I recently received an internship with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. After college, I hope to work in a communications department at a nonprofit organization or go on to get my Masters and become an English professor. I am a Chicago Quarter Mentor, the Student Representative for DePaul's English Department, and a Circulation Assistant at DePaul's library.

As a member of the Anchor club at my high school, I tutored students who were struggling. I tutored my peers in various subjects, and now I teach college freshman and help them with their assignments both as a mentor and as an instructor. I still chicago">tutor high school students and volunteer at reading programs to help students improve their reading-comprehension/illinois/chicago">reading comprehension.

In grade school, I struggled in my English courses. With the encouragement of my dad and 7th grade teacher, I started to love my English classes. I just needed help understanding the instructions and paying attention to details. I won a writing contest in 7th grade, and my confidence grew. Now, I use this experience to guide my approach to chicago">tutoring. I realize the importance of getting the student interested in and passionate about the subject. I try to get every student to find something they care about in the area we are focusing on. I also try to boost their confidence. A positive attitude can get you very far in life, and I believe this includes academic success.
