About Me

I am attending Lehman College of the City University of New York. I am in my senior year and expect to graduate on Jan. 2014. I am member of the Speech Club at Lehman College. My current cumulative GPA is 3.2. I have excellent grades in my Speech Pathology classes as well as in Early childhood Education. My goal is to graduate by the end of this year and apply for the Speech graduate program for the Fall. I have a French Award and had been recognized on the Dean's List.

I started tutoring my younger sibling in the areas of English, Spanish, and Arts about 9 years ago and helped him prepare for his exams. I have experience working with infants and toddlers at my previous job at a daycare in NJ. At the daycare I assisted the teacher in the classroom with her lesson plans and student activities. At home I also tutored my parent's godson in English, Spanish, Writing and Basic Math. My tutoring experience has been great, I saw improvements with my brother's grades and also the mother of my parent's godson has spoken to me about her son's improvements with writing, Math, English and Spanish.

My aim as a tutor is to provide the students understanding and confidence on the areas they need help. I believe that the best way for students to learn is with hands-on activities, and other different techniques so they can comprehend what has been assigned to them instead of just memorizing facts. It is important for the students to learn the basics and after they have mastered it we work on more challenging tasks. Using positive reinforcements is important because it boosts their confidence and they feel motivated. I also plan ahead so that I am aware and prepared to assist each student's needs.
