I love learning! I will browse through the library shelves just for fun to see if there is anything that catches my eye. I am the author of a new YA series and several short stories and a play that is currently being performed all over the world. I have a son who is a professional performer and we occasionally go swing dancing

About Me

I am certified teacher with endorsements in Theatre EC-12; ELA/Reading 4-8 and ELA Social Studies 4-8. I have two Master's Degrees, one in Educational Research from Texas Christian University and one in Performing Arts, Drama from Texas Woman's University.
I am currently substitute teaching and freelance writing.

Experience

Education has always been a large part of my life. Upon graduating with my BA from Texas Wesleyan, I am began teaching theatre with the Fort Worth Theatre Outreach Program. From there I went on to work with area schools to use theatre skills to improve reading comprehension. This led me to pursue my Master's in Education and eventually to seeking my certification through the Texas Teacher's Alternative Certification program. Tutoring will allow me to work with even more students.

Approach

As a student I had a strong support system with accessible teachers and family members who were willing to help me get around mental blocks and other obstacles to learn. They were able to help by treating me as an individual and working with me one on one. As a tutor, I get to know the student and review their learning style so I can create the plan to help the student reach success
