Fun Facts
I am a military brat and have traveled my whole life.
I love reading in my free time, traveling, and meeting new people.
Teaching is my passion and I want students to actually enjoy a subject rather than seeing it as a chore. From experience, I have learned that a teacher can inspire and impact a student as to which major they want to pursue once they reach college by how interesting they make a subject and as a tutor, I would like students to have positive insight into different subject matter
About Me
I am currently a senior at the University of Texas at San Antonio. My major is Chemistry because I feel chemistry is fascinating and has the biggest potential in changing the world. I am also working on my bachelor's in Mathematics. I feel math is one of the most important subjects taught in school since it opens many gateways to other majors such as engineering, chemistry, accounting, architecture, etc. I feel that my success in chemistry was having a strong background in math. I also plan on getting my teaching certificate within the next year to teach math and science.
Experience
Throughout high school, I have been a teacher's assistant for math and helped students with understanding lectures and homework problems. Once I entered college, I tutored close peers and classmates. To work for Frog Tutoring, I would like to gain more experience with working with all types of students in helping them enjoy and progress in their school work.
Approach
I think there are several things that will make learning more enjoyable and help students progress. I would make the subject relatable and fun by relating the subject to the student's hobbies or interests. By making the subject interesting, I think it would help a student focus rather then become bored or distracted. Learning needs to be viewed as fun rather than a chore. Patience and encouragement are also very key in preventing students from getting discouraged. I would praise them when they get the answers right and try different approaches rather than the same approach if they are still not understanding.
