Fun Facts

One passion I have is traveling and reading. Traveling is one activity I desire to practice full time when I retire. You will find me reading and watching tv shows on traveling on HGTV or any travel shows on PBS or any tv channel. I have been to Europe, Australia, New Zealand and I hope to visit South America and other Asian countries like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan etc. This is my bucket list and I am almost close to retirement.

About Me

I work for the state of California as a research program specialist. My specialization is performing SAS queries, excel calculations and performing bill analysis. I enjoy my work. I used to teach ESL and Math for 10 years and I really miss the classroom and interaction with my students. My hope is that by tutoring I can get back my positive experience in teaching and I can share my passion with my students.

Experience

I taught ESL for almost 10 years in Malaysia. I also taught Math and tutor Math at Sacramento City USD and Elk Grove USD. Tutoring would provide the opportunity to impact young students who are eager to learn. I have a master's degree in ESL and a MBA in Business Administration (Management Information Systems). If possible I would like to get back to teaching students again as I find it is a fulfilling experience to share and learn together.

Approach

I have always been a top A student in school. I excel in Biology and Math and English. Although I am from Malaysia, countless number of my students have graduated from universities from foreign universities. It brings me great joy and satisfaction to see that my students have successful careers in medicine, engineering and dentistry. My approach to education is to be student centered. Motivation is a great factor in educating a child. Teaching study skills is more important to providing answers.
