Fun Facts

People find out quickly that I love frogs, soccer and the color orange">orange. I also love travelling and have been thankful enough to combine travelling with my other passions, for example going to two World Cups or working with a biologist in Costa Rica who specialized in frogs! I enjoy sailing, archery and reading in a comfy chair outside on a nice day.

About Me

I have a BA in Biology with chemistry and mathematics minors. I am currently looking into other graduate programs to continue my education.

Experience

In high school I had an internship where I was able to work with elementary school children on their math and reading skills, working with them in the classroom as well as in after school homework club programs. Once attending university, I was able to continue worcester">tutoring at a local middle school; again working with the teacher in the classroom on in class assignments as well as after school to assist with homework. I also have tutored some high school students in the math and science subjects.

Approach

Both in and out of school I have always tried to solve problems using the method of discussion. I believe there is a more lasting effect when knowing the 'why' behind each step to solving a problem. It is also a more rewarding feeling, as a student, when the concept behind the problem finally 'clicks'. To get to this understanding I like to ask the students questions to guide them to the solution, or to find where his/her weakness is and what tools we can use to overcome them.
