Fun Facts

I moved to Denver a year ago for grad school and have fallen in love with climbing 14ers. Being from Florida, I find the mountains fascinating and majestic, and consider the rocky mountains one of the most beautiful places on earth. Over the course of my time living here I plan to climb all 54 14er mountains. Colorado has allowed me the challenging new hobby of mountaineering.

About Me

I am a second year master's student in Bioengineering at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus. I received my BS from the University of Florida in Materials Science Engineering. My passion for medical engineering has brought me to the research field of vascular biology, in which my masters thesis involves analyzing lung fibrosis occurring in hypoxic pulmonary hypertension. Upon graduating, I plan to work as an engineer in the biotechnology industry.

I have extensive experience in mentorship and denver">tutoring that dates back to my undergraduate career. Throughout my undergraduate experience at the University of Florida and as a member of the Biomaterials society, I volunteered weekly as a denver">tutor for 5th graders at a local elementary school who were struggling in concepts of pre-algebra and reading. I have also served as a regional district science fair judge for middle school students in areas of biology and engineering for the past two years. I have passion and enjoyment in mentoring students, and I believe these skills allow me to provide a unique denver">tutoring experience to students in science.

I have a sincere enjoyment in helping students succeed, and it is a future passion of mine to pursue teaching at the graduate level. Math and science have always been my strengths. Comprehension of complex concepts takes perseverance and practice, and the most successful way to achieve this is through development of problem solving skills and using the tools and methods with which each individual thrives best with. In this sense, I prefer to teach to each individuals strengths, allowing for a more personalized approach. As an engineer, I can provide critical insight to students in developing the rigid analytical skills they need to succeed in math and science.
