About Me

I am currently a senior at the University of Texas at Austin, with a Psychology major and Sociology minor. Ever since elementary school, I've been placed into gifted and high achieving school programs. Initially, I was a bad test taker growing up and was once put on academic probation entering high school to watch my grades. This inspired me to prove to educators that test grades are not everything, and I aced my classes. I developed a great work ethic in high school and it has continued to helped me at school, and at work. I am a fast learner, and a hard worker. I'm very organized and scheduled, and I always strive for A's in my classes. I currently work in a phobias lab at University of Texas at Austin Psychology Department. I am also an officer in two different organizations, Diversity in Psychology and Texas Student Psychological Association.

I have helped my friends study for tests, and I give them tips for how to better learn or memorize material. I have not been an official austin">tutor, but I have experience teaching material to my peers. I take the best notes in all of my classes, and I am always extremely prepared for tests because of my studying techniques. Tests no longer frighten me, like they once did in Highschool. Through these skills, and my education in psychology, I am able to help austin">tutor others. As a leader in my academic organizations, I am seen as a mentor and offer resources to people whenever possible.

My austin">tutoring approach starts with organization and time management. I believe that is the most important foundation to a study routine. Setting up times to study, take breaks, switch subjects, and factor in life are the first steps. Patience and repetition are important aspects to austin">tutoring. It takes time to understand difficult material, and it is the austin">tutor's job to make sure the teaching style matches the student's learning style. Keeping track of progress is useful in achieving set goals, as well as periodically assessing what you've learned. Taking small breaks should never be left out! As a psychology student, I am educated in the best stress relief techniques and utilize them daily.
