I am from Texas and have lived in Los Angeles for the last 4 years so I have grown up around different cultures. I have an older brother and sister. I like to cook gourmet dinners. I enjoying taking long drives near the beach. I enjoy playing basketball with friends.

About Me

I really enjoying working out and staying healthy. I recently graduated UCLA and currently am applying to medical school. I love spending time with close friends and watching movies. I am a pretty simple guy and easy going. I have no trouble getting along with new people and actually enjoy making new friends.

I have volunteered for Together Educating and Advocating Community Health (TEACH), which is a UCLA organization that focuses on health education, mentoring, and tutoring at-risk populations. My junior year I interviewed and was chosen for an intern position with TEACH. As an intern, I completed 2 quarters of public health and health outreach/education classes for at-risk populations (2 hours/week). After class completion, I helped at-risk students with homework and make goals for health, academics, and social concerns (4 hours/week). Additionally, I designed and taught creative lesson plans that helped fight health disparities in the community.

During the first interaction with the student I like to get to know him or her and understand their learning style. Once I learn the type of learner the student is I cater to their style. I like to quiz the student often on the material because testing increases later retrieval of material. I also like to play games with students that help them learn. Overall I strive to make the learning experience fun but effective.
