Fun Facts

I love to read fictional books and watch old, cheesy movies. At the same time, I also like having a lot of fun as well. I used to ski and still snowboard when I get the time and money. I played clarinet in band for seven years and marched for four years. I've lived in many places and like to travel. I'm into scuba diving and hope to go dive in Florida for Christmas.

About Me

I am a Biomedical Sciences major on a pre-veterinary track at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi. I am a sophomore with a 3.74GPA. When I graduate I hope to get accepted into a veterinary college and become a small animal vet. Currently I am involved in the Honors Program, Honors Student Association as the Event Chair, Beta Beta Beta (a biological honor society) as the Historian, and Alpha Epsilon Delta (a pre-professional society).

In high school, I was constantly helping my classmates to understand their classwork and showing them alternate methods of solving problems. I was a year ahead of the majority of my classmates in math courses and took Advanced Placement courses; all of this helped my to better explain the topics to my peers who had troubles with the basics. In my first year of college, I also helped my friends with chemistry and composition courses. The summer courses brought the tutoring of history. With the new semester, I hope to give back by helping current high school students because the students of today are the leaders of tomorrow.

I can't say that I ever had problems in middle school or high school but now that I am in college, I wish I had developed better study habits in high school and that I had been challenged to learn rather than to just memorize for the sake of a test, then purge my memory to free up space for the next test. My approach will be to walk students through their problems and give them explanations that will allow them to find the answers on their own. I will also give some ideas for study methods that will not only help them now but will continually grow to help them in their college careers as well.
