About Me

My Name is troy">Troy Mowatt and I am a junior at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi. My degree is in Kinesiology all level teacher certification. I was born in Las Vegas Nevada, but moved all over the place because my dad was in the Air force. I lived in Nevada, Montana, Oregon, California, Arizona, and Texas. Because of all this moving school was extremely hard for me yet I have been able to work really hard, and have been successful in my education plans. I graduated high school number five in my class, I was student of the year, voted Daughters of the American Revolution outstanding history student, and was a member of National Honor Society. I graduated high school with 15 hours of college credit and I have been working and putting myself through college for the last three years.

My experience as a tutor has been limited, but I do have some relatable experiences. In high School I was a Sunday school teacher for my local church. I would come up with lesson plans and activities and would teach the class valuable lessons. Also I have taken class at the university where I have taught and observed classes at the Early Childhood Development Center. Also I am continually taking education classes as my degree is to become a coach, and teacher.

My philosophy on tutoring is to take a practical approach to each subject. I meet the student and Identify their strengths and weaknesses. From there I will teach them studying techniques that will build upon their strengths and that will help them to remember the information. For example a student who really enjoys music, but struggles with history I would teach them to make songs out of their notes. Once the student can remember the song they will be able to recall information during the test thereby helping them to gain confidence in that subject. My approach is that every child has something that they are good at, and my goal is to help them utilize that talent into learning and furthering their education.
