Meet Austin Tutor Joshua C!

We are pleased to introduce Joshua C. an experience and highly rated tutor in Austin, TX. Joshua continuously receives superior reviews from his clients and is dedicated to education. Like many of our tutors Joshua has a unique story to tell and his experiences help him be a more effective tutor and mentor to his clients.

Why did you choose to become a tutor for Frog Tutoring?
I chose Frog Tutoring because of their unparalleled devotion and dynamic approach to the student’s success and to their employee’s satisfaction. A tutor that’s happy will definitely make for a student that’s happy as well, and the regional coordinators go out of their way to make sure everyone’s expectations are met and exceeded. The flexibility in scheduling and location are definitely a plus as well.

What has been one of your most memorable experiences at Frog Tutoring so far?
One of my students this semester was able to meet Jimmy Kimmel and Mathew McConaughey while they were filming a segment for Vulcan Video on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this past SXSW festival and even filmed the segment across the street from our normal meet-up location. Though (regrettably) I wasn’t scheduled to tutor him that day, it definitely made for interesting conversation!

If you could give a piece of advice to your students and other FrogTutoring students, what would it be?
Never give up. No matter what circumstance you find yourself in, or how hard curriculum becomes, keep striving towards your goals. There is an amazing quote from Stephen Hawking that sums this up pretty well; "Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don't just give up.”

If you could have any person (living, dead, or fictional) as a tutor, who would it be and why?
Of the many possible candidates on my list, I would probably pick Stephen Hawking. Not only would he be able to help me overcome my dread of doing physics homework, but he would also be great mentor in life having overcome many personal and professional obstacles. A good tutor is one who can show mastery of their subject matter, but a great tutor can also provide mentoring, guidance and counsel when a student needs it as well.
