Fun Facts
I spent most of my childhood reading about all kinds of different stories. As a toddler, my mother taught me to read using every kids book she could find and by the time I was 4 years old, I was reading 1st-grade level books back to her at bedtime! Suffice to say, reading is a passion I was born with! I am the older sister to a 14-year-old boy, and love to travel. I take my little brother everywhere and do my best to teach him what I can of the world he lives in.
About Me
I am a biology major at FIU. I've been studying biomedical sciences since my ninth grade year in high school. I earned a CPR certification in the tenth grade, earned an EKG certification in the eleventh grade, and a CMAA (certified medical administrative assistant) certification in the twelfth grade. My goal is to graduate with my bachelor's in biological science and ultimately become a doctor, specializing in OB/GYN.
Experience
As a member of HOSA in high school, I worked with a myriad of people. I had the amazing opportunity to work as an intern at a well-known pediatrician, shadowing the doctor and providing help in the administrative aspect. Ever since he first started school, I've helped my younger brother complete his homework and study for his classes. He has always struggled to learn with ADHD but he's gone from failing grades to star student with my help at home!
Approach
As I helped my younger brother in his school work, I've realized everyone learns differently and study techniques must be adapted to the individual student. My mother has been a teacher for over 20 years and she has always inspired me to be positive in everything I do. She has been an immense help in my studies as well as the tutoring of my younger brother and classmates I've helped in the past. I've been fortunate enough to have someone encourage me to help others in this way!
