I am very passionate about nutrition, exercising, and teaching others math. There's just something about students having the "Aha!" moment that honestly gets me every time.
About Me
I attended FSU and FIU as an undergraduate student and in my last semester as a Biology major. My end-goal is to be a physician, which is on its way with my acceptance into medical school starting next year. Even though I want to be a doctor one day, it does not take away from my passion to teach others. It is very rewarding to see the students I help excel in every class by using general learning strategies that go a long way (even through college).
Experience
When it comes to tutoring, I've taught all maths/sciences and critical thinking strategies from middle school to high school. I was given the opportunity to start tutoring my freshman year of high school when my math professor noticed I had an innate ability to understand the material rather quickly. At first I started tutoring algebra 1 and 2, then dove into Pre-Calculus and Calculus my junior and senior year. During these 4 years I also tutored most science-based courses, and lastly, Spanish.
Approach
When I was third grade I was allowed to skip to fifth grade. This opportunity gave me a chance to understand how certain individuals learn at a different pace than others, but also taught me that professors over-complicated concepts and neglected the basics in learning process. I like to tutor through the strategy of positive reinforcement. My main goal is not simply to teach the student the subject at hand, but to teach the student how to think in general, which can be applied to all classes.
