Fun Facts

One thing that people find out about me is that I love technology. From video games to camera equipment and everything in between. At every opportunity, I am on YouTube watching videos or searching for new tech developments. I am an only child and only left my hometown of Saint Louis, Missouri to begin medical school. I also enjoy country music. Someday, I plan to become an expert line dancer.

About Me

I am a third-year Medical Student at Emory University School of Medicine. I am also a 2017 graduate of Washington University in Saint Louis. There, I was on the Dean's list and majored in Biochemistry. Now, in medical school, I am heavily involved in SNMA, mentoring, and cardiology research. When I graduate, I hope to pursue a procedural specialty like surgery or interventional medicine.

Experience

As a Peer-Led Team-Learning Facilitator in college, I led groups of 9-10 students through Chemistry material designed by the course directors for 3 of my 4 years. I also was a TA in general chemistry as well as a biochemistry tutor. In medical school, I lead a session to teach high school students about the various paths to medical school as well as basic clinical vignettes. Teaching gives me the privilege to improve a student's understanding and instill confidence in them and their abilities.

Approach

In high school, I encountered my first true academic struggle with my Honors Physics course. Here, my teacher did not "spoonfeed" us the answers. Instead, he encouraged us to learn concepts so we can apply them to novel situations. This is also my approach to tutoring. To truly understand a topic is to be able to apply the underlying concepts to any situation. I do not give my students answers, but I do work through the concepts with them, developing study skills to hone in and understand.
