Fun Facts
A fun fact about me is that I am a published author! When I was in the 8th grade, my English teacher helped me get my poem published into a book. At the college level, I have won a gender expression poetry event. I have a passion for creative writing.
About Me
I am a 22 year old Elementary Education senior at Northeastern Illinois University. I expect to graduate December 2016. I will not only get a BA in Education, but I will also be certified to teach English Language Arts, Social Sciences, Middle School, and General Science. I am in pre-service student teaching this semester and will student teach next semester. Down the line I would like to get my masters in Special Education or English as a Second Language.
Experience
As an Elementary Education major, I have been in the classroom many times. I had to take 2 semesters worth of observation classes that also require me to do service (i.e. tutor children). In my clinicals this semester I am tutoring my middle school children (5th and 6th graders) in Math and Science. Last year I was a youth development instructor at a Montessori school through the YMCA; I would assist the students who needed extra help with their homework (preschool-6th graders).
Approach
As a tutor, I attempt to get inside my student's mind. I make them explain their thought process to see how they are processing the certain subject. I will also do various tests to see how the student learns best based on Gardner's 8 types of intelligence (Linguistic, Logical-mathematical, Spatial, Musical, Naturalistic, Bodily-kinesthetic, Intrapersonal, and Interpersonal.

Education Tutoring
Since I am an Elementary Education Major, I have taken the required education courses. I have passed all the courses with A's. For one course (Methods of teaching Language Arts) I was asked to be a tutor for the students.
English Tutoring
I am an English minor and specialize in creative writing.
Biology Tutoring
During my pre-service student teaching, I was (am) a Science teacher for 5th and 6th graders. Even though we are learning about Physics and Earth Science Topics, I am also taking a Biology course for educators at my University.
Homework Coach Tutoring
As a youth development leader, I would help my students who had to do their homework. I would make homework time a fun and stress free space by playing classical music.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
During my pre-service student teaching this semester I sit in on a couple of 6th grade pre-algebra classes. I assist the students who need extra help.
Science Tutoring

I have been working with Microsoft Office for over 15 years now. I have taught Microsoft Office to seniors when I was a senior in High School.
Spanish I Tutoring
In High School I took 3 years of Spanish: Spanish I, Spanish II, & Spanish III. I had no background knowledge of the language before High School, but I picked up the language rather fast. Even to this day I practice the language amongst my peers.
Writing Tutoring
In High School, I was on the Journalism/ Newspaper team. I was also in the honors program for English Classes. I have the knowledge to be able to write pieces of work ranging from poetry to a news report.
