Fun Facts

An ideal vacation for me would be one where I would be surrounded by nature, friends, and family. I choose to spend my free time discovering about my community, and working with tools.

About Me

I earned a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry at California State University of Los Angeles with a minor in philosophy. Currently, I am enrolled in a Master of Science program in chemistry at the same school. I do research investigating the protein reactions involved in RNA-editing complexes. I plan to enter a PhD program, to ultimately reach my career goal of becoming a scientist for a research institution.

Experience

I have been able to tutor peers in various subjects I have excelled in. I have completed an EdX course offered by Harvard which teaches about different styles of learning and how to address different learning needs in these changing times. FrogTutoring has allowed me to develop my skills by assigning my clients who are struggling in subjects I excel in.

Approach

I seriously believe that, "It does not matter who the person is, there is always something you can learn from them." Anything I teach has been taught to me either from a book or a mentor, such as a teacher or even my mother. Knowledge is all around, let us capture it. I will encourage the leaders of tomorrow to question sources, while not being too critical. I will also make a commitment to keep myself updated with contemporary skills in teaching.

Biology II Tutoring

Finished the introductory biology series in the Spring of 2017; earning a B for the first semester and a C in the second. I continually find myself flipping through my notes and textbook as I continue my studies in biochemistry. Working with peers I have been able to help colleagues understand abstract concepts in simple ways.

Computer Science Tutoring

Earned a C in an Intro to SQL this past Spring 2017. Was able to earn As on my labs and on midterms, except for a few I missed. Working in groups I have been able to catch many unnoticeable errors. I keep this knowledge saved for any potential uses.

Writing Tutoring

Received a B in English 101 first quarter of freshman year. Manage to get multiple As in many of my college papers. Mentoring I have had a glimpse of the diversity of language styles. Communication is of vital importance in the research industry, and I plan to become invaluable in the subject.

Anatomy Physiology I Tutoring

Received an A in my Physical Anatomy class senior year of high school. Continue to learn about anatomy and physiology as I go after my biochemistry degree, which I have kept a focus on biological complexities. Teaching I have been able to spark an interest in students in the field.

Computer Science Tutoring

Earned a C in an Intro to SQL this past Spring 2017. Was able to earn As on my labs and on midterms, except for a few I missed. Working in groups I have been able to catch many unnoticeable errors. I keep this knowledge saved for any potential uses.

Economics Tutoring

Received an A senior year of high school. Learning how to survive in the economic world, currently via Khan Academy, and related efforts. Received a 1K scholarship for a sentence explaining why financing is important.

Government Tutoring

Received a B senior year of high school. Have been able to see government in action. Took a political science course and received a good grade my freshman year of college. Still learning and engaging in the subject, through studies of ethics.

History Tutoring

Earned As and Bs in multiple college-level history courses. Involved in many projects in order to gain a thorough understanding of a period of time and the actions that occurred during that time.

Biochemistry Tutoring

Earned a B.S. in biochemistry. Currently conducting research studying protein reaction mechansims. Have taught chemistry and biochemistry to new students and had success explaining many concepts in a fun manner.

Calculus 2 Tutoring

Received A's in Precalculus, Precalculus for Life Scienes and Applied Calculus I. In high school, received a B average in two semesters of AP Calculus BC. Tutoring the subject, I have aided in solving 30 minute long problems. Math lies at the foundation of my biochemistry career, and I continually review the subject as I advance through it (Khan Academy, tutors, books, etc.). As I changed to a biochemistry major I took physics based Calculus I and earned a B.

Spanish I Tutoring

Earned California Seal of Bilteracy on high school diploma for getting a 4 in the AP Spanish test. Received college credit for AP Spanish my senior year of high school. Speak it regularly at home; I am a native speaker of the language. Have taught my mother basic English with this skill.

Organic Chemistry II Tutoring

Have passed General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry I and II, Quantitative Analysis, Physical Chemistry, and many more chemistry courses. As a biochemistry student, this has been the foundation of many, if not all, of the problems I have encountered while studying scientific literature. Have a BS in biochemistry and currently a Masters student in chemistry. Continually lean more chemistry through my research.

Philosophy Tutoring

Earned a minor in general philosophy. Understand what it takes to be in this field and have discussed many philosophical subjects with peers and professors.
