Fun Facts
I have raised a menagerie of animals, including dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, hedgehogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, and snakes! I currently have two snakes. I enjoy arranging music for the Cornell University Clocktower Chimes, and playing piano and percussion. I can also sing.
About Me
I grew up in a small town in the Central Valley of California, called Hanford. I attended Sierra Pacific High School, where I graduated as valedictorian.
I graduated in 2019 from Cornell University with a BA in English. I am currently a Master of Fine Arts student at the University of San Francisco in creative writing (emphasis in poetry), and I aim to have a poetry book published by the end of the year! After my master's, I plan to attend a PhD program in English, then teach at a University!
Experience
I recently finished working as a teacher's assistant for an advanced poetry seminar for undergraduates at the University of San Francisco. Over summers at Cornell, I was a lead summer camp counselor and creative writing instructor for teenagers for five years. I have tutored groups of elementary through high school students at Monica Learning Center. I currently work as a Behavioral Technician for autistic children.
Approach
I am a very patient and empathetic individual who is comfortable working in group and individual situations. I never dwell on negatives or mistakes, and use positive reinforcement and encouragement when working through problems. I also encourage students to think about different situations in creative ways, and finding innovative solutions that appeal to the student and meet assignment guidelines.
