Fun Facts
One passion that I have is music, I have kept it to myself more in college as I focus on school but performed at Carnegie Hall in high school. I'm an only child; though I have a 'brother' who lived with me for 5 years from Sudan, my parents were given guardianship over him. Love pop culture (Star Wars, Marvel, etc.), avid Kansas City/Oklahoma City sports fan. Gamer when I have time, but that is rare. I have a Maine Coon named Remy. I have shadowed over 500 hours with a Neurosurgeon in the OR.
About Me
I am a Junior Biology Major / Psychology Minor on the Pre-Med track at Texas Christian University. I made the Dean's List freshman year. I was invited to the Chemistry Awards for being one of the top students of my class in Gen Chem. I hope to attend medical school post-graduate, though I am not sure where yet. I have an interest in surgery, leaning towards Neuro (if I can make it), but all doors are open for me. I also serve on TCU's Peer Conduct Board, and in Student Developmental Services.
Experience
I have never served as an actual tutor for pay, however I am a Biology TA at my university. Due to STEM's level of difficulty, at times people realize things you don't, and vice-versa, and being able to convey these ideas are key. I have worked in Student Developmental Services for many events involved in getting Freshman acclimated to college and help them wherever I can; this gives me the chance to help even more students in difficult times such as today's current climate.
Approach
When I was young, admittedly, I did not really need to study nearly as much as my peers. Going into college, however, I had adjustment issues, my study skills were lacking, I wasn't able to focus, and panic ensued. Eventually, I was diagnosed with ADHD. Now, I've dealt with it, learned new skills. I know what it is like to be in the shoes in students like myself, and feel like I owe it to others to help them like I wasn't until college. Everyone's needs are different and I can help them succeed.
