Fun Facts
I have coached high school girls softball for more than 20 years. Being a coach has allowed me to continue to love teaching and I plan to continue doing it for as long as possible. I have two fantastic granddaughters who live right down the street from me - and they definitely help keep me young!
About Me
I am a retired education/minnesota/minneapolis">special education teacher, heavily focused on working with children and young adults with autism and learning difficulties. Teaching reading, writing and study skills were the primary areas that I taught. Previously, I was a writer and editor for more than 25 years. I am also a professional photographer and I enjoy combining the arts of writing and image creation.
Experience
I was a newspaper writer and editor for several years, then moved into the public relations and media relations arena for many years. Later in my life, I returned to college and became a education/minnesota/minneapolis">special education teacher. I continue to substitute teach. I also am a high school girls softball coach.
Approach
I enjoy watching my students figure out how to study better, read and understand better, write and edit for fun or for school, and become more confident in their abilities. I encourage perseverance and great attitudes, and use guided questioning to help students learn not only to identify problems, but solve them.
