Fun Facts

Some fun facts about me include a passion for Dungeons and Dragons and video games. Most of my free time is spent playing games with friends, or hosting sessions. I'm one of 11 siblings, the fourth oldest, and I spent a summer in Germany doing research in a group working with Dark Matter. I like to listen to almost all kinds of music, but mostly listen to rock bands like Shinedown.

About Me

I'm a recent college graduate from the University of Texas at Austin, with a Bachelors of Science in Physics. I'm hoping to become a researcher in the future, after I apply to Graduate School. I want to focus on Astrophysics and hopefully can find out more about the unknown universe around us.

Experience

During my time at UT Austin, I was a mentor for the Freshman Research Initiative in the White Dwarf Stream. I spent time there helping teach other students how to code in Python for astronomy research. I had this job for about 2 years, joining after my the second semester of my sophomore year. Other than that, I went to many outreach events as a stand in for a couple of clubs I was in, including the Society of Physics Students, and Astronomy Students Association.

Approach

During my time in college, and even my senior year of high school, I learned how helpful it is to work with other students to study materials in classes even if I think I know what I was doing. There's always something you can cover and go into deeper detail to learn a subject better, and I'm hoping I can bring out the inner knowledge of other people. As a mentor I learned how to give hints without giving away the actual answers, to help promote self learning and a yearn for deeper knowledge.
