Fun Facts

My brother and sister have the most common names in the United States, so to shake things up, my parents decided to name me Eleanor...I go by Ellie. I am the middle child, so I can get along with anyone. I absolutely love traveling, and plan on stepping foot on every continent, even Antarctica. I've had some pretty crazy adventures overseas, and love talking about it, just ask me!

About Me

I am going into my second year at Saint Louis University, majoring in Communications with a focus in Advertising and Journalism. My dream job would be to write for National Geographic, but I could also be content developing ads for international companies. My minor is English; I was persuaded to join the program after my English professor read my first paper, and have always loved writing. I got the idea for a career in journalism after winning several first place awards at the state news writing competition.

When I was in the National Honor Society in high school, I gained experience albuquerque">tutoring high school, middle school and elementary aged students. I had an internship at Mission Avenue Elem. my senior year of high school, and learned several styles of individual instruction and focused attention. As I said before, I have experience working in several different levels of education, and am well versed in several subjects. When I was in middle school, I struggled in math and had to be tutored myself. I used what I learned to help my students in the future. I find that many students just need individual attention and struggle with asking questions in class. albuquerque">Tutoring changes the learning environment, and I believe many students greatly improve academically. If the student simply doesn't understand the material, I believe that individual attention and patience can really help. I do not think that simply giving the answer helps you learn, and therefore try to explain why that answer is correct and help the student reach that answer on their own.
