Fun Facts

It's hard just to pick a few fun facts about myself! I love spending time with my three boys. Whether it's going to the museum or for a stroll around our community, I love to learn and be with them! One of my favorite hobbies is reading. I love reading fiction and non-fiction. My favorite reading topic is space. I love to find out as much as I possibly can about our vast universe.

About Me

I am about to begin my final semester of student teaching at the University of New Mexico. I've made the Dean's List four times since I've enrolled in college. After graduation, I hope to find a job as a teacher in or around my hometown, or as a substitute teacher until a position becomes available! After a semester off, I will go back to UNM to obtain my Master's degree. My main goal is to get my Master' degree in TESOL and move on to get my level three teaching license.

Experience

I have not had the chance to have a professional albuquerque">tutoring experience, however last semester I had the opportunity to albuquerque">tutor a child in reading for about four months. This was such an amazing experience! I really got to know my student, and see what their needs were. Approach

While I was in elementary school, I struggled a lot with math. This wasn’t because I didn’t know the content; it was because I had a teacher that would often put me down if I got a question wrong. This hurt me in the long run, because I never thought I was good enough to raise my hand and answer. My goal is start off with praise and encouragement with each student. Not only do I want to help them learn, but I want them to build confidence so that they won’t be afraid to be wrong or right. I want
