Fun Facts

I absolutely love to read non-fiction History books and am particularly fascinated by European medieval history (1000-1648) and American political history. Currently, I am in the middle of Doris Goodwin's "Team of Rivals" which provides excellent insight into Lincoln's cabinet.

About Me

I recently graduated from Dartmouth College with a double major in Mathematics and Philosophy. During my time in college, I was a member of the varsity men's Swimming and Diving team and lived in Sigma Epsilon Chi Coeducational Fraternity before the pandemic began. My coursework in Mathematics centered included Mathematical Biology, Probability and Statistical Inferences, and Number Theory. In Philosophy, my focus was in ethics with classes such as Freedom of Speech and Conceptual Ethics.

Experience

During high school, I was a teacher intern for a middle school band class. I also have been teaching swim lessons for about a decade and have experience teaching children ages 4-18. Over this past summer, I worked for a virtual healthcare company where I used R to conduct text analysis on patient and clinician reported free text. For my senior seminar in Math, I created a model for CAPAN-1 cancer cell growth and a dose-dependent death curve for cancer cells exposed to two cancer drugs.

Approach

I find that the best way to help people learn material that they find difficult is to break the problem down into its component parts and see where take the approach one step at a time. Doing this provides the student with a better understanding of what is being asked and what strategies are available to answer. Sometimes, it can also be incredibly helpful to rephrase the problem and re-contextualize it so that the problem is easier to understand.
