I am married with two children. I enjoy traveling and making barbeque on a sunny day. I am a high school baseball umpire. I really enjoy being on the baseball field umpiring any high school game. I enjoy teaching as well. It really excites me when I see a student achieve success after hard work and dedication.

About Me

I am a retired school teacher. I retired in 2019 after 30 years at the elementary level. I graduated from Texas A&M Corpus Christi with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in reading. I also have a master’s degree in elementary reading and math from Walden University. I taught in the first, third, fourth, and fifth grades.

Experience

As a teacher, I have had the opportunity to access the needs of my students and prescribe interventions to assist them in meeting their learning objectives. I worked with my students in small groups and on an individual basis. These experiences allowed me to build relationships and motivate my students to succeed. The opportunity to observe my students succeed is my passion as an educator.

Approach

As a teacher, I have had the pleasure and experience to work with all types of learners. I believe in building a positive leaning relationship and then work on achieving the learning objective. This is accomplished by assessing the strengths and needs of the learner. My philosophy is every child can be a successful learner if directed and redirected in a positive manner. I believe in learning from mistakes and justifying correct answers to ensure understanding.
