About Me

I am currently a Petroleum Engineering student at houston">the houston">University of Houston. I will be graduation in 2015. I will be starting an internship next summer and hope to continue my professional career as a drilling engineer. After attaining 3-5 years of experience in the Ol & Gas industry, I plan to go back to school part time for a MBA. My ultimate goal is to start my own engineering consulting firm.

Throughout my educational career I have been helping classmates grasp difficult concepts. I have the ability to express complex principles in simple ways which enables the student to understand the fundamentals of a specific subject. This has lead me to be successful in connecting with students on an academic level in established companies such as ASTA(After School To Achieve) and AceMyCourse houston">Tutoring. This past semester with ASTA I helped elementary school students four days out of the week with their homework and career building lessons. With AceMyCourse houston">Tutoring, I tutored a number of students in Engineering courses.

First, I asses how much the student already knows in their subject. Second, I make sure the student has a fundamental understanding of the material and not just a memorization of it. I have a strong belief in fully comprehending the basic principles of the subject before building complex ideas on top of them. Students who only memorize how to solve problems do not develop intuition or problem solving skills, which may inhibit them in their educational and professional career. They have gaps in their knowledge which are harder to fill in future courses. Lastly, empowerment is key for helping a struggling student. Usually, a lack of motivation and self confidence are what inhibits students from reaching their full potential.
