About Me

I graduated from Hampton University with a B.S. in Mathematics with a concentration in Nanoscience. I was on the Dean's List every year I was there, and now I work in cybersecurity! I plan to go to graduate school for a Masters degree in cybersecurity and a Ph.D. in either cybersecurity or chemistry! I've been tutoring in some capacity for the last six years, and it's been fantastic every time! I love helping students find the learning process fun and to recognize that their learning process is unique to them. When students understand that, and discover how to best work within their individual learning process, they can accomplish anything!

Experience

I've been tutoring in some capacity for the last 6 years! I started with middle school math my senior year of high school, then Calculus I my freshman year of college, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Chemistry, and College Algebra during my sophomore and junior years, Calculus and Pre-Calculus during my senior year, and most recently, working as a tutor at a local Mathnasium center. I greatly enjoy tutoring and helping people realize that math can be very fun and interesting!

Approach

I try to help my students understand that they are fully capable of learning and understanding any subject that they find difficult. I help them to avoid comparing themselves to others and to focus on their own understanding. I like to relate topics they're learning to real-life examples to help make the concept less abstract, and I make liberal use of the socratic method. I also really try to make the learning experience fun! People tend to remember positive experiences!
