Fun Facts

You will learn right away that I have the most patience of anyone you have ever met. I enjoy spending quality time with my family as well as watching sports on television. I am a teacher/coach and I love learning something new on a daily basis. I am also a huge fan of video games, as well as cooking. I love to cook indoors and outdoors whenever I get the chance. There is no one who loves helping others more than me, and I look forward to making a difference for someone today.

About Me

I am currently a High School Math Teacher at Mathis Independent School District. I also coach High School football, middle school basketball, and middle school track. This is my tenth year of teaching/coaching, and I have been with the same district my entire career. I recently attained my masters, and I plan on assuming a role in administration in the future. The best part of my job is getting to interact with kids, and make a difference in their lives.

Experience

As a member of the 21st Century after school program, I have had the privilege to tutor many students as well as coach UIL academic teams during my career. In High School, I was the salutatorian of my class, and I took on a tutoring role for some of my fellow students before and after school. There is no better feeling than when a student I am helping has that "ahha" moment, and the subject begins to make sense to them. The look on their face is part of what drives me to come to work daily.

Approach

I grew up with my mother being a math teacher, and my father also being a education/texas/corpus-christi">special education teacher and athletic coach. Academics was always pushed in my household, and I was always held to very high standard when it came to my education. Growing up you realize how much of an impact your teachers/coaches have on you, and for that very reason I pursued a career in the education field. As a teacher/coach, I make sure to use my platform to impact as many lives as I can on a daily basis.
