Fun Facts

My passion for languages extends beyond just French and English into German, and oddly enough into computing languages and logic! Although I love swimming, and I've been employed as a Red Cross certified lifeguard since I was 17, I also enjoy many other types of athletics such as cycling and soccer. I am also an experienced baker and artist.

About Me

I'm currently a senior in French at DePaul university, with a current GPA of 3.96. In my time at DePaul, I've organized a weekly French Film series to help students' aural comprehension, and I've been on the Dean's List since my first quarter! I was also chosen by the French government to work in France as an English teaching assistant in the 2014-2015 school year. After that, I plan to either remain in France as an English teacher or return to the USA as a French teacher.

Through DePaul University's teaching program, I have had the chance to work closely with Chicago Public Schools both as an in-class assistant and a chicago">tutor outside of class for motivated students in the school's Scholar Center. After finishing my official academic assignments, which included Whitney Young and Alcott high schools, I continued working as a general chicago">tutor at Alcott. I play an active role in guiding and teaching newer French students through the weekly French table gatherings, and I lead the cultural explanations that follow the French department's weekly French films. In addition, I have been hired by fellow students to chicago">tutor them in GML, an object-oriented programming language.

My attitude about learning has always been, even before entering university-level classes, that learning something new should be an enjoyable experience. This was something that my parents taught me at a young age, and has made a big impact on my education: when I focus on learning the material in a way that I enjoy, I do better academically than when I just try to force myself to memorize something. When I chicago">tutor, I focus on presenting my subject in a way that my specific student will enjoy, because that makes the material much easier to understand and remember. To this end, my approach to teaching tends to focus on what's interesting about a subject and what can be done with it. I also focus on matching my student's pace, because too much information can be just as bad as not enough.
