Fun Facts
I am a huge basketball fan and sports fan in general. The Mavericks and Cowboys take up most of my TV time, as I am not really into TV shows but always look forward to watching the next game and rooting for my team. I also love to travel and have been to 35 states in the US, as well as four different countries outside of the United States.
About Me
I am currently a Master's in Accounting student at the University of Texas at Dallas. However, this is my very first semester in grad school as I very recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in Spring 2020. I received Dean's List recognition twice in my three years of undergrad. AP credit from high school and taking more than the average number of courses in a few semesters helped me to graduate early and save a whole year. My ultimate goal is to become a successful CPA.
Experience
Due to COVID-19, the most recent tutoring experience I have had is helping my two younger siblings with their homework. I have also been an Eagle Scout for the past 4 years. Before summer 2020, I was active and heavily involved in every weekend meeting where I would mentor younger scouts in the process of advancing in the scouting rank. Through teaching them a skill or guiding them through their Eagle project, the most wonderful part was simplifying their learning path with my experiences.
Approach
My intro professor told us that learning accounting does not come from reading a textbook, but it comes from repetition and hands-on following. The document camera was a very helpful tool where our professor never had the answers to begin with, rather she would work out all the problems and journal entries from scratch. This showed us how to clearly work each step and identify where mistakes can come from. As a tutor, I seek to bring this hands-on approach for complete learning with my students.
