Fun Facts

I am one of 6 children. I love animals of all types, including reptiles. I have a 15 yr. old long-hair Maine Coon, named Monet ('Mo-Nay). As an experienced healthcare professional and teacher of Higher Education , I especially love children, teens, and young adults. I love sports, to include: Swimming, Skiing, and Basketball. I am passionate about teaching Anatomy and appreciating the mastery of the subject area by my students.

About Me

I am a Pediatric Orthopedic Physical Therapist (35 years) in MD, Asst. Professor of Higher Education, and Coordinator of the Pre-Professional Physical Therapy Track at Morgan State Univ. I earned a PhD in Lower Extremity Development from the Univ. of Iowa (1995), to investigate the origin of rearfoot and Medial Longitudinal Arch development. I enjoy very much teaching and educating especially teens and college age students about subject material ranging from Health to Anatomy & Physiology.

Experience

I been an Asst. Professor in the field of Physical Therapy for a total of 14 years, teaching at 3 universities in total: Temple Univ. (PA); Univ. of MD, Baltimore (School of Medicine); & Morgan State Univ. During my years as a professional student, I have studied and dissected 3 adult cadavers and approx. 18 fetal cadavers -- for purposes germane to my academic requirements and for research. A current research project involves airway safety and car seat positioning strategies in infants.

Approach

I have always loved to learn especially the Biologic Sciences, to include: Histology, Comparative -, Vertebrate -, and Human Anatomy.
I really fell in love with these areas in my first year of undergraduate school by joining a team of 6 to tour the Attic and Intake Labs of the Nat'l Smithsonian Institute of Natural History. I strive to always create "Ah-Ha" moments and fascination in my lessons of Anatomy by giving the structures functional meaning to also teach how the body works.
