Fun Facts

I like to swim and used to swim competitively for Nova Aquatics for over 7 years. I love grapes but hate grape flavored foods. I am extremely interested in environmental engineering and like really enjoy my engineering classes specifically. I also refuse to get a smart phone because my battery lasts for 3 days when all my friends' phones die after 8 hours.

About Me

I was born in Russia and moved to Los Angeles at the age of three. I moved to orange">Orange County for middle school and high school and took up competitive swimming as a hobby. Currently I am preparing a graduate student in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

I have been teaching swimming lessons for over 5 years now. By teaching I learned how to explain concepts simply and learned that sometimes taking the lesson back to the basics is more important than learning the harder techniques. I believe that if the student does not understand the basics, the harder material will be much harder to get. I have also had experience in many subjects ranging from Russian to all sciences and maths. I have been tutored and have exposure in effective teaching strategies. I tutored several students of all age groups in various subjects and have lead several workshops on internships and careers. Additionally, I used to be a peer mentor at UCLA and helped individual students with school or personal related issues that came up. Furthermore, I have also tutored my 10 year old sister on multiple occasions, which actually increased her grades drastically.

I believe in the phrase "slow but steady" and make sure that every detail and subject is covered in a lesson. Lastly, I am very patient and love to see progress in my students, which is exactly why I chose to take this job.
