Fun Facts

Upon finishing college I moved to France to test out my language skills and study wine among the vineyards of the Jura. Learning language means learning the culture, and I came to love the golden wines of the region, along with the country cheeses and other delicacies. It is the people we fall in love with truly, however, and having acquired the experience, with the help of knowing a foreign language, provided me with extended friends and family, which has kept life rewarding.

About Me

I have a degree in French and International Studies from Miami University and continued my studies after college in France, gaining a Certification in Wine and Spirits from Chateau Pecauld in the Jura region of France. I gained my Master's in Applied Linguistics several years later. My knowledge of both French and ESL are well founded, and I hope to lead students to their own mastery and look forward to helping others in their journeys.

Experience

Over the course of receiving my teacher's certification and master's education, I had the opportunity to teach in a variety of public school settings for both children and adults. I have been tutoring individuals for over ten years. It is a true passion to help students improve their skills and their grades and help independent learners acquire new language for the sake of pure enjoyment.

Approach

I like to focus on lowering each learner's anxiety and increasing their confidence by using a patient and personalized approach. Each lesson is adapted for the specific learner, including whether or not an immersion style of learning is appropriate, or a more direct approach is better. I keep lessons at level and just above in order for learners to acquire language and their own pace and aware of their daily successes while providing generous, continued feedback.
