I was born and raised in Portland so I love the outdoors, cooking, and thrift shopping. In my free time, I love exploring the beautiful maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia Gorge, Forest Park, and planning my future travels around the world. Additionally, I love cooking and fermenting foods from local farmers markets or veggies I grow in my garden.

About Me

For the past three years of my college education, I have taken as many science classes as possible. My major is Biology with a focus in Micro/Molecular Biology because I plan to work toward my Ph.D. in Microbiology. I am passionate about the amazing bacteria in our guts and its connection to our physical and mental health. There is much more to learn and I plan use my research to improve the lives of people around the world.

Although I have not had an opportunity to portland">tutor through an organized portland">tutoring service, throughout high school I informally tutored my peers and younger siblings. In college, I have formed weekly study groups for several of my classes and led the group through successful study sessions. I have developed study skills that I learn from workshops and teachers and put them to good use throughout my challenging college courses. In my chemistry courses, I registered for weekly workshops where we were led by a student and practiced study skills and methods to excel and learn as much as possible.

Even though studying can be disheartening at times, it is so much more fun when you can somehow develop a passion or excitement for the material. Developing personal and educational goals is imperative to finding the motivation to apply oneself. When I begin a class or study a subject I find difficult, the first thing I do is look up how it is applied in an actual setting. After I realize that the homework is just one more step toward completing my degree and applying my education to a career, I apply myself and develop a greater appreciation for my surroundings. I love bringing joy to learning because it not only makes studying that much easier, but it encourages exploration of the world around us.
