Fun Facts
A fun fact about me is that I was born in Germany! My family and I moved to New York when I was two years old. Although I have never had an opportunity to go back to Germany, my ultimate goal is to go to graduate school there and get my master degree at the University of Hamburg, the town which I was born in.
About Me
I am a senior History and Political Science major at Texas Christian University. I have been on the Dean's list and am a member of Phi Alpha Theta, National Honor Society for History majors. I have worked extensionally in state politics and have a great understanding of state and local politics.
The past year I worked in the Texas Christian University Athletic Department tutoring the student athletics. Subjects have ranged from History to English to Political Science.
Prior to this, I tutored elementary students while in high school. My focus was on social studies and writing comprehension.
Growing up, I had a lot of problems with hearing disabilities as well as ADD. I understand how hard it can be to study effectively and do well in classes. I have found that through encouragement and making the topic fun, it is much easier to understand the subject.
In prior tutoring sessions, I would often be able to tell interesting and funny stories about the topic we are discussing. By giving the work a more humanized and simplistic approach, I have found it to be an effective method of tutoring. My method is simple: Time-on-Task. Meaning that by taking the time, practicing and quizzing the student and by asking questions, any student can succeed in any subject.
