Fun Facts
Being an English major, it comes as no surprise that reading is one of my favorite activities. I love exploring new genres and styles, especially graphic novels. I also enjoy listening to music, going for walks, and freewriting! For most of my teenage years, I danced, so I hope to return to this activity one day.
About Me
I am a graduate student at Northeastern Illinois University in their M.A.T Secondary Education English program. I received my B.A in English from NEIU as well. Once I complete my M.A.T program, I will have my teaching license for high school English as well as my Masters.
Experience
While enrolled as an undergraduate at NEIU, I had the opportunity to work as the English peer tutor for their Learning Sucess Center. The LSC provided free support to all students enrolled at NEIU. Students looking for support in their English courses, as well as their W.I.P (writing-intensive program) came to me. The feeling of gratitude I received from helping a student is the motivation behind applying for Frog Tutoring!
Approach
As a student, I struggled in school but I also had little to no motivation to try to do well. When I entered college, I took a job as a counselor at my local Park District's before and after school program. This experience helped me realize that I love to be around students and that my true passion is teaching. As a tutor(and future teacher), I aim to access student's strengths and help them apply them to their weaknesses. This approach not only helps them learn but gives them confidence as well
