Fun Facts

I am a very sporty person. My favorite sport is lacrosse; I have played for years and still play for fun in college! My favorite subject in school has always been math, but I also really enjoyed art. I still love painting because it helps me relax.

About Me

I am currently a sophomore at the washington-university">George washington-university">Washington University in D.C. I am majoring in Biomedical Engineering. My overall GPA is 3.6. I really enjoy the classes I am taking and I look forward to learning more and finding interesting opportunities to make a difference in this field!

During my freshman year, I volunteered with several other engineers at a the School Without Walls to washington-dc">tutor high school students in math and science. I also have worked extensively with children as a camp counselor and as an assistant Sunday school teacher.

My first priority as a washington-dc">tutor would be to make sure the student truly understands the information. In school I often struggled with the difference between understanding and memorizing information. If a student actually knows the information, rather than memorizes facts, they will be able to think critically and answer any question on the subject. Obviously, this can be difficult to achieve. When I struggle with an idea or assignment I try to split the problem into small steps. By asking questions or prompting them, I would help the student learn to divide the large and complicated problems because these steps seem much easier to achieve and can help the student solve similar problems in the future.
