Fun Facts
I love to be active, play tennis, hike, camp, etc. I grew up on a 40 acre farm and that was a source of many amazing childhood memories.
About Me
I am a career changer. I worked on the assembly line at General Motors until I decided to become a high school math teacher. It started when a friend needed help at a Juvenile Detention Facility tutoring at risk students. I always enjoyed math so I tried it out. I feel in love with tutoring and that was the catalyst for me returning to college. I love teaching in the classroom, but tutoring gives me great joy because I can see the individual progress of the student.
Experience
I have taught high school mathematics for 15 in Chesterfield County Public Schools in Virginia. I have also taught summer school every year, as well as ran remediation session for students to pass the Virginia state tests called SOLs.
Approach
I tailor each lesson to each individual student. There is no, "one size fits all" when it comes to teaching and tutoring. I like to spend the first session ascertaining what the students strengths and weaknesses are, as well as trying to get relate to them a little so they feel comfortable with me. I love tutoring because it affords me the opportunity to truly apply adequate wait time for the student. I will never solve a problem for them, but rather led them down the correct path.
