Fun Facts

I grew up in quite the multi-cultural household. My mother was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti but by blood is full Lebanese, and my dad is Greek. I love trying and cooking all different types of ethnic foods; it is no coincidence that Greek, Lebanese, and Haitian foods are my favorites! I have also picked up tid-bits of many languages along the way, even Haitian Creole!

About Me

I am a double major in French and Government at the University of Texas, and I am also enrolled in the UTeach Liberal Arts program. I have finished both of my major requirements and through the UTeach program I am currently doing a semester of student teaching at Round Rock high school in order to obtain my teaching certification for high school French and Social Studies. I have a passion for teaching and I love working with students of all ages.

Through my teaching certification program I have interned for at least a semester in an elementary school, a middle school, and a high school. During each of these internships I oftentimes worked with students one on one and I am now currently full time student teaching at Round Rock high school. As a student teacher I offer times for tutorials and frequently work with students on an individual basis. I also tutored for a semester with the VICTORY austin">tutoring program in Austin and assisted elementary students with mild learning disabilities such as dyslexia.

I gained a sense of independence before many of my peers, and I owe much of my perseverance to the guidance and encouragement I received from my teachers. Every time I work with students I am reminded that each one of them is an individual with their own struggles. I have learned that patience and special attention to individual needs when teaching goes a long way, especially for students, who much like myself at that age, need someone to believe in them. As a austin">tutor I strive to guide a student to conclusions instead of simply giving an answer. I find that this empowers students to find answers on their own, and it is up to me to present the information in a way that facilitates this achievement.
