Fun Facts

I'm a girl who dreams big and believes any dream is worth the attempt! I am a 400 hurdler at Howard University aspiring to compete in the 2016 Olympics. I also want to be a sports model with my own perfume line. On top of all that, I LOVE to travel and the french language/culture. I hope to be fluent in french soon and I have spent an extended amount of time in 5 different countries.

About Me

My name is Kinyata Cooper and I am a fifth-year chemistry major, french minor at Howard University from Chesapeake, Virginia. I have maintained an accumulative GPA of 3.74 throughout my college career, and once I complete my undergraduate studies I intend on pursuing a doctorate degree in biomechanics and forensic science at Texas Tech University. My ultimate goal is to become a forensic scientist for the FBI and design my own athletic sneakers.

As a coach in The Grassroot Project, an organization where Division I college athletes use sports as a means to educate at-risk youth (ages 11-14) on HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness in Washington, DC, I have had 3 years experience in working and educating young kids. As a student-athlete I have also tutored my teammates and fellow classmates in general chemistry and elementary french. From these experiences I have seen how chemistry is often the least favorite subject among my peers, therefore, I feel it is important to share my passion and knowledge of chemistry to any and everyone in need.

As a washington-dc">tutor, I feel it is important to just make the information relatable. When information is relatable that provides a sense of understanding and not just memorization. If a student can understand the concepts and not just try to memorize a bunch of formulas, then that student will be more confident in his or her ability to learn and conquer various problems, enhancing their problem solving and critical thinking skills.
