About Me

I am a former University engineering student who has a lot of skills related to STEM that I want to share! I studied Chemical Engineering and Japanese language so I learned a whole lot of math and chemistry, but more importantly I learned how to learn! My goal for the future is to work in Science Communication/Translation!

Experience

I have tutored for friends and for pay since high school! I have worked at the University as a tutor for the math department and also the language department. I worked as a researcher in the chemistry department of my University and some of my work has been published in academic journals! I've passed math courses up to Differential Equations and for chemistry I've taken Organic Chemistry II, Polymer Chemistry & Engineering and graduate-level Thermodynamics.

Approach

As a ADD person, learning to balance Chemical Engineering classes, life, and learning Japanese I could only do it by making things as easy as possible for myself! Careful discipline and organization have been absolutely crucial to my academic life and I've had to spend a lot more time than most people thinking about the best approach and how to be proactive to work around my own limitations. I know anyone can do it and I can show them how!

Conversational Japanese Tutoring

When I was at University I took every Japanese Language class I could and have since had hundreds of hours of 1 on 1 conversation practice with native speakers (who don't know English). I'm not a native speaker, but I CAN help you achieve fluency if you want to move from the textbook to real life conversation! I probably faced a lot of the same hurdles you are if you are learning Japanese as an adult!
