Fun Facts

I love being active, and hiking and swimming are a few of my favorite activities. I swam competitively for 17 years, and two of those year I was on the TCU swim and dive team. I have hiked to the top of seven fourteeners, and I plan on adding to that list next summer. One of my favorite activities is reading, and I probably go through at least ten books a year.

About Me

I am currently in my Senior year at Texas Christian University and I am double majoring in Mathematics and Educational Studies. I do want to become a math teacher when I graduate, and I am also interested in coaching swimming. I have received numerous academic awards from the TCU swim team for my high 3.9 GPA.

Last year I was an AVID tutor for Stripling Middle School. I mostly helped the seventh and eigth graders with their math homework. I worked with the students twice a week for two hours through the months of September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April, and May.
I have also coached numerous swim lessons for many years, so working with kids is a second nature.

Through my courses at TCU I have learned that a child learns best through developing their own understandings. This is why I will not just give children the answers. It is important to questions and probe the student to the correct answers, so they build understanding themselves. When they do this, they remember the process better.
Also asking students questions will help pinpoint their area of confusion. Once I know why they are confused I can encourage them to work through the difficulties to obtain understanding.
