Fun Facts
As I have gotten older, I have found that I like to cook. I have recently moved in with a new set of roommates and they are always so surprised when I actually cook something instead of heating something up in the microwave or oven. My dad and I always like to swap recipes we try throughout the week!
About Me
I am a junior at the University of Texas at Austin studying Elementary Education. I begin my student teaching in the spring semester. I am so excited! When I graduate, I would like to be teaching a second or third grade classroom. I, eventually, would like to get a Masters Degree in reading and dyslexia.
I have been working with students in elementary schools since high school. In high school, I worked with students two times a week on homework and classwork that they needed help on. In college, I have tutored at two different schools. My freshman year of college I tutored at Metz Elementary School with the HOSTS program. My sophomore year of college I tutored at Wooldridge Elementary. I have been so thankful for the experiences I have been given to work in schools prior to student teaching and my teaching career in general.
Organization and study skills have always come easy to me. I even took a class in middle school that taught how to be organized with your school work, homework, and note taking. This class taught me so much. With organization, comes the ability to be organized while studying. Also, doing homework after class is much more efficient when your school work is organized. When austin">tutoring for homework and study skills, I would first get the student organized and into a routine of making school work more organized. When austin">tutoring reading-comprehension/texas/austin">reading comprehension, I like to have the student summarize the story in their own words before answering questions. I also like to have them circle key phrases and events so that they can analyze the story while they are reading it.
