Fun Facts

I like space and physics a lot, and that's part of the reason I want to maybe work with NASA someday. I also really enjoy video games and programming, so I also want to go into video game development at some point. I also really like Japan. Their culture is really cool, both the old and newer cultures. They also have a very widely known video game industry. I hope to study abroad there soon

About Me

My name is Garrett Baski, I am a science/colorado/denver">Computer Science major at DU. I am a Sophomore this year, and almost have my Math minor. After college, I either want to go into video game development, or trying to work with NASA at some point. I also am thinking about living in Japan, as I plan to study abroad there next year. In having a career, I really just want to do what I enjoy. In terms of leadership, I am a leader in our Esports club, and a committee to get students to study abroad in Asia.

I have not had any paid denver">tutoring experience before. However, during the summers, I have tutored my cousins in both elementary and middle school level math. I have also helped out our high school when they needed people to go denver">tutor some of the middle school level students. Lastly, I have helped my aunt (who is a math teacher) with teacher and denver">tutoring her class before.

Understanding exactly what the student needs is very important. You want to help them learn in a way that they will understand the best, whether that be through visual, oral, or any other kind of stimuli that they learn through best. In math specifically, learning critical thinking and problem solving skills is much more important than memorizing formulas. Helping the student understand why something works and having them understand what is does is very important. I would take all these into account to give the student the best experience they can get.
