I am a CODA, meaning my parents are deaf and I am fully bilingual in American Sign Language and English!

About Me

I am a first year Human development major with an emphasis on child development. I am currently earning my specialization in the development of literacy while I work at an early childhood development facility and tutor college level English.

Experience

Every weekday, I work one on one with students struggling in the subject of English and reading comprehension. Many of my students are ESL learners, and I work with them to ensure full comprehension of the English Language. I work very closely with 0-5 year olds on fostering an environment that encourages literacy development, as well as socio-emotional, physical, and other domains of cognitive development.

Approach

As an individual who has a profound desire to learn and constantly expand my knowledge, I felt that desire was suppressed in school. As a teacher and tutor, I appeal to students’ innate interests in order to reconstruct their perspective of learning. Learning is fun, as long as we allow ourselves to be individuals while immersing ourselves in educational experiences!
