
Fun Facts
I grew up on the South Side of Chicago to an immigrant family. I feel as though the odds were always stacked against me; nevertheless, I became a Posse scholar. The Posse Foundation granted me a full-tuition scholarship for my leadership skills and academic excellence. In my younger years, I would often spend my summers volunteering at daycare or as a summer school tutor for elementary school students.
About Me
I am an Anthropology and Religious studies double major with an academic scholarship that covers all of my tuition. I have been on the Dean's List since my freshman year and plan on graduating with a summa cum laude designation.
Experience
As the President of Faminista!, a support organization for women of color at my university, I have facilitated many study and tutoring sessions for college students. I have also worked with Non-profit groups assisting in SAT and ACT prep and college admission counseling.
Approach
I believe that while education is important, having the thirst and desire for education is essential, not only for tutors but for tutees as well. If I am tutoring someone without a passion for knowledge, I will rearrange my agenda in a way so the tutee is able to still receive knowledge in whatever field/course/subject they are receiving tutoring for, but I will also incorporate more real-life examples and attempt to get the tutee to want to learn by incorporating the tutee's passions and intere
